QUESTION: Why is it that I seem to face trial after trial even though I am living a godly lifestyle while it appears that those that don’t even want to know the Lord are being blessed beyond measure? ANSWER: When bad things happen to God’s people, especially when it’s us, or more to the point, “me,” we call it “suffering.” Two things we need to understand about suffering are:
There are four fallacies commonly believed about suffering:
So, why do bad things happen to God’s people? First, we believe in a fallen world (Romans 8:22,23; Matthew 5:45); Second, bad things happen to God’s people to demonstrate an authentic faith (Job 1, 2); Third, God has a redemptive plan so that our sufferings have value (Romans 8:28); and Fourth, God gives us promises to secure our faith in times of trouble (II Peter 1:3,4). My brothers and sisters in Christ, check the Scriptures. The Bible is truth – God’s truth. It’s eternal, complete and all-powerful truth that easily takes the devil’s lies and puts them in their place. When that happens we have the abundant, victorious life God has promised us. Beloved, God has given us the one weapon that will defeat Satan and his lies every time- the truth. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so! ___________________________________Please note that the views and opinions expressed in the Faith Forum are not necessarily those of the editor and staff of Say So!
